What it covers

How it is written

Each point of procedure is marked with the practice direction, rule or guidance it comes from, and the sources are listed on the second page. Points of practical advice are marked as coming from the book. Procedure changes, so the checklist carries the date its sources were last checked: 20 September 2026.

The checklist follows the standard process in England and Wales, the Child Arrangements Programme. Some court areas use a different process, the Child Focused Model, so check the notice of hearing you receive and whether your court is one of them.

The checklist gives general information. It is not legal advice and cannot be applied to a particular case without taking advice. Full disclaimer
