The authors

Shaun Miskelly and Danny Miskelly are father and son. Both have been through the family court as fathers: Shaun about twenty years ago, and Danny three times.

Together they went back through all four of their own cases. They found points they had missed at the time, and points that could have been raised earlier or handled differently. Many of them were about how the process itself works: how professional language gains weight, how allegations enter a record, and what each stage is for, from the first hearing to Cafcass and section 7 reports.

When You Can’t See Your Child sets out what they learned, so that a father has that understanding at the beginning of a case, not in hindsight at the end.
